It can often become harder for whānau that are struggling to care for their pēpi or young child. Family Start is a home visiting programme that focuses on improving children’s growth and health, learning and relationships, family circumstances, environment and safety.
Based in the main centre of Kaikohe, Te Hau Ora O Ngāpuhi, also known as THOON, is charged with leading the hauora strategy for Ngāpuhi, serving whānau, hapū and hapori living within Te Whare Tapu Ō Ngāpuhi, from pēpi to kuia and kaumātua, whether Māori or non-Māori.
