The Break-away programme helps taitamariki aged 11-17 years to build their social, interpersonal and communication skills so they can manage and respond better to challenges and make positive choices about their lives. Delivered during school holidays, the programme provides structured activity that supports personal development and promotes physical activity.
Based in the main centre of Kaikohe, Te Hau Ora O Ngāpuhi, also known as THOON, is charged with leading the hauora strategy for Ngāpuhi, serving whānau, hapū and hapori living within Te Whare Tapu Ō Ngāpuhi, from pēpi to kuia and kaumātua, whether Māori or non-Māori.
