🗣 THOON at the Social Investment Hui

Photo featuring: Matthew M, Te Matapihi Staff, Ali Hamlin-Paenga, CEO at Te Matapihi, Jordon H Robertson, Chairperson at Te Matapihi, Minister Nicola Willis, Tia Ashby, CEO at Te Hau Ora o Ngāpuhi, Dr Grace Walker, Co-Founder at Tautoko Technology

In November, our CEO, Tia Ashby, had the privilege of attending the Social Investment Hui, an event hosted by Minister Nicola Willis. This event showcased the government’s commitment to innovative, data-driven solutions aimed at supporting Aotearoa’s most vulnerable communities.

A key takeaway? Minister Willis highlighted the transformative power of early intervention and the critical role of collaboration between the Crown & Non-Government Organisations (NGOs), local communities, and iwi in delivering lasting, meaningful outcomes for whānau.

At Te Hau Ora o Ngāpuhi, we are inspired by this shared vision. Together, we can drive impactful, community-led change. ❤️

🏡 2024 Community Housing Aotearoa Conference (CHA2024)

Featured are Kushla Hardisty (Housing Manager) and Ana Tairua (Housing Continuum Navigator) from our Tenancy Management team. Also attending from management was Steven Sansons (Project Planner), who works across various THOON housing projects.

Our team were honoured to attend the 2024 Community Housing Aotearoa Conference, a dynamic gathering of change makers committed to ensuring that everyone in Aotearoa has a place to call home.

Over two impactful days, leaders and members from government, iwi, community housing, Māori housing, philanthropy, and the construction sector came together to exchange ideas, share knowledge, and ignite innovation.

We were inspired by the range of voices represented—from builders to researchers, planners to front-line staff. The conference fostered meaningful discussions and collaboration, all with the goal of driving positive change in housing across the country.

🏡 Kiwibank Local Hero Medallist

Acknowledging the tireless efforts of our community champions including our very own CEO, Tia Ashby who was recognised for her contributions to hauora and wellbeing in serving our Iwi!

Ngā mihi hoki ki a Hilda Halkyard - Harawira, Vanessa Kite, Dr Ingrid Visser who are part of a cohort of 100 leaders selected nationwide and are in the running to be crowned the 2025 Kiwibank New Zealand Local Hero of the Year.

❤️🖤 Āpiti Hono Tātai Hono Roadshow

At the start of November, our team joined the final stop of the Āpiti Hono Tātai Hono Roadshow in Kirikiriroa – Hamilton. It was a privilege to connect with Ngāpuhi whānau and others in the community, sharing the vital health, housing, and social services we provide to support the resilience and well-being of Ngāpuhi and our communities across Te Tai Tokerau.

From Kahu Taurima (First 2000 Days Maternity) to Whaikaha (Disability Support), Cancer Care, and Mate Wareware (Dementia Support), our services address the critical health and social needs of our whānau.

Our giveaways and natural plant-based cream samples were a hit, and we were thrilled by the interest in our monthly e-Pānui, where we share updates on services, events, and resources for whānau.

Ngā mihi to everyone who visited us - it was a beautiful opportunity to strengthen connections and share our kaupapa! ✊🏽
