Registered Nurse

Purpose:
Te Hau Ora O Ngāpuhi is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our skilled team, providing holistic nursing care that promotes health, prevents chronic illnesses, and assists with rehabilitation for our hapori (community). This role involves developing and maintaining effective relationships with whānau, hapū, iwi, and other health and social service agencies, to achieve well-being and reduce health inequalities for Ngāpuhi.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide comprehensive, whanau-centered nursing care, including health promotion and illness prevention.
- Conduct accurate nursing assessments using evidence-based practice.
- Be or become an independent authorised vaccinator and competent cervical smear taker.
- Facilitate health programs within the community and collaborate with other organisations.
- Ensure client care reflects their preferences and involves them in care planning.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation.
- Demonstrate leadership, support team collaboration, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
- Uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Tikanga Māori in all aspects of nursing practice.
- Engage with and support culturally diverse populations in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health systems and practices, including the Indici system.

Skills, Experience & Education:

- New Zealand Registered Nurse with a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience.
- Current annual practicing certificate and indemnity cover.
- Independent authorised vaccinator (or willing to achieve this qualification).
- Current First Aid Certificate (Level 4 or higher).
- Full NZ Driver’s License and ability to pass a criminal convictions check.
- Competence in using Microsoft Office applications and practice management systems.
- Commitment to learning and applying kaupapa Māori practices and frameworks.
- Proficiency in Te Reo Māori and understanding of Māori customs/principles preferred.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with strong communication and management skills.

- Comply with all employment obligations and health and safety standards.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and maintain confidentiality in all matters.
