Qualified Lead Builder / LBP

Te Hau Ora O Ngāpuhi, in conjunction with PanelLock (a division of the FNR Group), have established Te Ara Whai Kainga to provide options for affordable healthy homes to our local community.

Te Hau Ora o Ngāpuhi is charged with leading the hauora strategy for Ngāpuhi, serving whānau, hapū and hapori living within Te Whare Tapu Ō Ngāpuhi, from pēpi to kuia and kaumātua, whether Māori or non-Māori.

The FNR Group is a locally owned and operated civil and commercial construction company with a long and proud history of developing infrastructure in the Far North District.

About the Position

Your role will be to build, mentor and develop a team of enthusiastic people wishing to pursue building qualifications.

You will be responsible for a team of 6, with goals of growing to a team of 20 strong, whose building responsibility will be the assembly of PanelLock Systems kit set homes for the Te Ara Whai Kainga initiative, based in Kaikohe.

Skills and Experience
  • Licenced building practitioner (LBP)
  • Proven experience in building industry, specifically residential homes
  • Understanding of mentoring low-skill staff
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • An interest in shaping and developing the next generation of builders
  • Good networks in the Ngāpuhi community

The successful candidate will have
  • Solid experience and knowledge of the building industry
  • Ability to read and interpret building site plans and specifications
  • Strong working knowledge of building codes, regulations and best practices
  • Effective communications skills capable of training and passing on information to all skill levels (apprentices)
  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen
  • Knowledge and commitment to Health & Safety
  • Leadership skills
